More coloured pencil adventures
I’ve been busy working on a couple of new drawings.
Here is the Jaguar, a large 22″ x 30″ creation on Arches hot press paper. I based this on my own reference photo taken at the Stoneham Zoo near Boston, MA. This was a challenging piece, not ony because of size, but the creation of the graduated lighting I developed for the leafy background. I used a variety of pencils on this drawing, Derwent Drawing and Lightfast, Caran D’ache Luminance, Faber Castell Polychromos and the odd Prismacolor Premiere.
Following my work on the Jaguar I started on a drawing of Kirsten, a Guide Dog for the blind. I came across this beauty when I participated in a charity fund raising event at the University of Amherst in Newton, MA. I took lots of wonderful reference photos, so there are a few more woofers to come over the next few months.
