Watercolour – “Vista”
I am enjoying exploring the many nuances of watercolour. I recently completed this painting depicting a mountain vista, thus the name of the piece. The work was done on Fabriano Studio 11×14″ 140 lb Hot Press paper. I made a video of the progress of this painting that you can see on you tube at this link.
This is a beautiful piece of work… I enjoyed watching the amazing transformation from blobs of colored water into realistic shapes, depth, and translucency. My eye feels riveted to my favorite part of the painting… the wave spilling over in a sharp seagull-like shape, creating an illusion for me of more birds overhead, filling in the extended scene in my mind, memories of my time at the ocean.
